Chiropractor

Dr. David Abbott has been a chiropractor serving the Brampton Community for over 40 years. Before he completed his Doctor of Chiropractic degree, he attended the University of Western Ontario. Here he was a valuable member of the Mustangs Varsity rowing team. Dr. Dave has a passion for sports, nutrition and staying mobile. In 1988 Dr. Abbott co-founded the “People in Motion” exhibition. Dr. Abbott had a patient whose daughter had a disability. The patient was explaining the difficulties of finding quality products and services for people with disabilities. This inspired Dr. Abbott to investigate other shows of this kind and begin gathering the information and resources here in Toronto. The information he found evolved into a show of People In Motion. This show was held on the first weekend in June each year during National Access Awareness Week, and at the time was Canada’s largest annual event for people with disabilities. With free admittance it featured over 150 exhibits and displays from product manufacturers and dealers, major corporations, and government agencies, as well as non-profit organizations. By design People in Motion was for everyone. While the focus was for individuals with disabilities, it was an ideal place for therapists, health care professionals and family members to educate and update themselves. Dr. Abbott continues to expand his knowledge to care for his patients through the completion of many certificate programs including the Titlist Performance Institute, helping patients return to golf after injury, and Precision Nutrition, helping patients form health eating habits. He also attends continuing education courses from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, the Ontario Chiropractic Association and the Canadian Chiropractic Association. Dr. Abbott continues to stay active and healthy, playing in baseball and volleyball leagues as well as keeping up with his eight grandchildren. He embodies healthy aging and strives to help his patients do the same.

Dr. Abbott-Cambridge, aka Dr. Mel, grew up in Brampton and returned to begin practice with her dad. She graduated from Brock University with a degree in Community Health Science, and continued her education at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College graduating with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Like her father she has a passion for sports and specifically rowing. While at Brock University she rowed with the Varsity team and continued on to compete for the Canadian National Rowing team. Following graduation from Chiropractic College she gave back to the rowing community through lecturing on low back health in rowing for Brock University and Ontario team athletes. Dr. Abbott-Cambridge’s clinical focus is on pediatric and Pre and post natal care. Her passion for pediatrics grew out of her love for caring for children. A young patient she saw with a neurological complaint early in her career encouraged her to see more knowledge in the area of pediatrics to best help her young patients. She completed training at Boston’s Childrens Hospital in Brazelton’s Neonatal behavioural Assessment (NBAS) for the most accurate assessment of babies under 6 weeks of age. She then went on to complete a Masters degree in Pediatric Musculoskeletal Health from AECC University in Bournemouth, UK. She is also certified in Medical Acupuncture from MacMaster University. Dr. Abbott-Cambridge also enjoys educating both patients of health care providers. She hosts clinical placements form a number of Universities and Colleges and Chiropractic interns from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College as well as D’Youville Chiropractic college. Further she worked at Logan University in St. Louis Missouri to develop the curriculum for an Evidence-Informed practice course as part of a new Masters of pediatric degree. Dr. Abbott-Cambridge is now adjunct faculty at Logan University teaching Evidence-Informed Pediatric Practice.
